Voice Chat

Talk to nearby players in real time with proximity voice chat - the closer you stand, the louder you hear each other.

What is it?

VoidSMP runs Simple Voice Chat, a proximity-based voice mod - no Discord call needed, just talk and whoever's near you in-game will hear you. It works for both Java and Bedrock players, though the setup is a little different for each.

Java Edition

Voice chat runs as a client mod, so you'll need a modded launcher (Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt) instead of the vanilla launcher.

  1. Install a mod loader matching your Minecraft version (Fabric is the easiest for most players).
  2. Download Simple Voice Chat for your loader + version from Modrinth and drop it in your mods folder.
  3. Launch the game through your modded profile and join as usual.
  4. Press V in-game to open the voice chat menu, allow mic access, and you're talking.

Bedrock Edition

No app or mod install needed - Bedrock voice chat runs entirely through your web browser via SimpleVoice-Geyser.

  1. In-game, run /svg pswd <yourpassword> to set a password for the web voice chat.
  2. On your phone or PC, open a browser and go to the SVG web link (ask in Discord if you're unsure of the address).
  3. Log in with your Minecraft username and the password you set.
  4. Allow microphone access in the browser - you'll now hear nearby players while you play on console/mobile/etc.

Troubleshooting

No sound, or nobody can hear you? Double check your Minecraft in-game voice chat volume/input device in the V menu (Java) or web page settings (Bedrock), and make sure your OS hasn't blocked microphone access for the game or browser. Still stuck? Ask in Discord.
